Sita Sings the Blues

I really a strong culture background story like Sita Sings the Blues.
Below is a video that i would like to share. The story is about a white hair . Surrounding is changing, like the red letter box, it no longer exists in HK. It is a part of people's memory.
I have a feeling that i need to catch time.

Nick Fox-Gieg

Among ten short films, i like "More Than Winning" the most. The story is extremely interesting. I was shocked when the result came out that dog and human were dead. I expected that the human will be the winner.

What i learned from Animator Nick Fox-Gieg is using texture and color. we dont need to use color to emphasize  the characters , sometime simple black and white are enough to show the characters.

And i also watch "Rule or Ruin series" on his website, it is cool!! specially, a kid is cooking part. I think the animator using brush to out line the main characters. i think he wants to make a shadow?

May 3

I don't like the animation under this week schedule. The common topic is dead. It is too sad. But i understand how important of music is. This is a fresh idea that Brent Green performs his film "Carlin" live. I think animation is not only for fun, it can be like music and dance that express certain feeling of creator. The emotion will be even stronger when the animation is presented with music. for example, like Crocodile Street alternate soundtrack 1. I stopped the video when the music just played. I feel so scary to listen this music with black and white image.

Watch this. This is so funny. The mouth movement of cat match with the music. I think that if the music is taken out, the video must less funny and interesting.

SUROGAT - Dusan Vukotic

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQyKaPQ6Abs

I like this story. the story is compelling. I used to skip the end part when  get bored. However, this one i watched the whole thing. I found that this story is funny, part of the reason is the main characters have a lot of detail movement. i like the hair movement of the woman. This is so bouncy. Besides, i like the speed of this animation. I think it is very hard for me to control the time frame( frame per second).

I also watched this

Musical Pig - Muzikalno Prase by Zlatko Grgic(1966)

A singing pig with a lot of mouth shapes. The pig use his voice to find a host finally.

Narratives

A ads

Gucci Cruise 2012 Ad Campaign

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFMzrBspgBI

If you ask me to distinguish between plot and story in this ads, i think this ads is more like a story type. Because the ads do not really tell you the idea, you need to infer. The funny thing is the ads does not show the Gucci products a lot. This shows the long legs and red lip of the woman a lot. Also this shows some scene of flowers and butterfly. Therefore, i guess the idea or selling point of this ads is about Spring session and this ads want to tell women that Gucci can feminize the women. The character of the red lip and long legs  are important traits to the audience.

tma/svetlo/tma (Darkness/Light/Darkness)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuBwXfg3Mr4

This is so funny when i saw the hands put the brain into the head. however, i don't see the head is more clever when it has a brain. Hands are even smarter than head:))

While i was watching "I met the Walrus", I was thinking how to do it. When i saw the person was pumping, how to create it?  is it using Bone tool or just frame by frame.

I have some brain storm after watching the animations on March 22.  They look like easy to create, however, i think they just look easy only. One question is how to make the view from far away to zoom  in.

http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/learning_guide/animation/part01.html

From this reading---just a little note remind myself:))))))

I learn 1)Shape Hint   2) Motion Path  3)Inverse kinematics (IK)

The Bone tool is extremely amazing!!!!!! I am shock!! (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/concept_bone_tool.html)
To adjust the number of Strength and Damping, i can change the movement of a string. WOW(@o@)

Low Morale: Radiohead-creep

I thought it would be difficult to create such changing animation video, however, after I knew the technique of shape tweens, i have a thought that Flash does most of the work making things easy. Therefore, i dont have to draw a sightly and sightly from one frame to one frame just like flip book. I think this trailer also use a lot of shape tweens
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSDU2tu7rpk&feature=player_embedded#!

I think it is not difficult to learn the technique, but the one thing is how the idea come. How to create a biggest visual enjoyable art work?

In the class, I watched some typography videos.  And here is a short brief lesson on typography that found on youtube.

Week 5 Patchwork Man

I like this kind of story Narrative Animation. And i like David Maroto's idea about using different voice and face features to show how his feel about borrowing ideas and feelings. He has a good sense Of innovation.

I learn much more features in Flash today. The most interesting thing is the see-througt using mask layout. the object of the underl-ayout could be Transparent into the front layout.

Week 4

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wh4DstK2w_Q
This is a funny video. But i want to know if it was created on Flash. i wonder how to make the characters float on the air and how to make the flower move.

In this class, I learned a special character on flash. Flash distinguish by color. This is so funny.but i dont see any good purpose. I am so excited to learn new thing in every single class. Today i learn using import mp4 file into Flash and make key frames by drawing outline of my video.

week 3

http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid271557392?bctid=666401814     by Chris Ware
I like the storyline. This is so compelling. It is about 2 students make a camera. Making a camera become a trend spreading through the school. Students like to take video around every minutes at school. One day, student A hit student B. Lots of student was holding the camera shooting them and it seemed that no one wanted to stop them. Finally, teacher came and banned all the camera.

In this class, we worked on the illustrator environment. The Selection tool and Direct selection tool made me crazy. When i just wanted to adjust a point, the whole picture moved. I still cannot familiar the technique.

week 2: Robert Hodgin, Weird Fishes: Arpeggi

More and more other people's art work i watch, more and more i feel i have no talent and no innovation. i wonder how they do that. I wonder why they have such a good idea.
I like the visualizing radiohead created by Robert Hodgin. i like the rich of color sparkling and sparkle with beat music. I feel like this is like a pub effect. i also watched this

http://www.aniboom.com/animation-video/212568/Nude-Noodle/

this is so interesting using the real background with animation characters. I used to like watching this kind of animation or cartoon. Here is a Hong Kong cartoon with using real Hong Kong street background.

Finally i enjoy learning skills on illustrator. I have never used it before. It is very new for me. And I found that the pen tool and the convert anchor point tool are very useful. i wonder how to make abstract draw using illustrator.

Week 1

I think the idea of flip book is amazing. I just flip over a sequence of pictures then a illusion of movement will come out  without any machine involved.
Thank for the idea of flip book and i can enjoy the perfect animation movie now. This is such a huge visual enjoyment.
It seems than it was going to be easy to make a flip book. However, I found that I need to have lots of patience to draw an ever so slightly different frame from one frame to the next. This is such time-consuming work. And it seems that i have no patience at all.

I found this flip book, which is interesting with compelling music, on youtube.
